It is an important place among Buddhists. Kandy city lies with an elevation of 465m above the mean sea level. When we talk about history, Kandy was the last ancient kings’ era. And also UNESCO declared Kandy as a world heritage in 1988. When we turn into our topic, I can say that there are lots of things to do in the Kandy area. Let me divide it into subtopics for the sake of clarity.

The Temple of The Tooth Relic is one of Sri Lanka’s most sacred places and stands at the top of every pilgrim’s list that visits the island nation. It is, in fact, one of the world’s most respected places of worship. This is a large and beautiful garden located in Peradeniya, near the Galaha junction. It can be used to have some photos with amazing natural backgrounds. The climate is also very calm in the garden. There is a cable bridge over the Mahaweli river and you can also have some experience on it. This garden is spread nearly over 147 acres. Normally this location is able to attract nearly 2 million visitors annually. The main reason can be guessed as the availability of rare, medicinal, herbal, and exotic plants.

Embakke devalaya is situated to the north of Gampola and to the west of Kandy. The Gampola period in the Late Middle Ages is often credited with the Embekke Devale. The Embekke Devale’s surviving constructions, on the other hand, are mostly from the Kandyan period. A timber building is the major characteristic of the Embekke temple. The wooden Digge, or “Drummers’ Hall,” in front of the main shrine is Embekke’s most notable feature. The most excellent woodcarvings from the Kandyan period are displayed on the pillars of this Digge; there are about 100 specimens in total, many of which are masterpieces. They represent human beings and fantastical animals, including fantastic creatures, as well as secular and religious scenes. Almost every pattern is reproduced by multiple carvings, although each carving’s design is distinct.

Ambuluwawa has a multi-religious sanctuary, a biodiversity complex, and beautiful natural landscapes, but its most notable feature is a 48-meter-tall tower with a wonderful view from the top. The Ambuluwawa Tower is an underappreciated Sri Lankan monument because it combines the architectural traditions of different religions. You may be able to have some awesome selfies while you get to the top of the tower. This viewpoint covers a large area around it.

Nelligala is a lovely religious site with a recently constructed relic. Nelligala is a beautiful picturesque spot and one of Sri Lanka’s greatest tourism destinations. Other than Buddhist temples, the Golden Temple on the summit of the hill has a unique aspect. The location is particularly lovely, spectacular, and wonderful, since it is situated in the center of a gorgeous mountain range in multiple provinces of Sabaragamuwa and the Northern provinces, and is a birder’s paradise. If you visit Kandy, be sure to stop by this beautiful spot in Sri Lanka’s Upcountry.

The Buddha Temple is located in the heart of Kandy, on a hill. At the top of the stairs, Buddha will meet you in the form of a massive figurine. To be honest, the sunset is gorgeous. The Sri Maha Bodhi Viharaya is another name for the temple. Tourists flock to this site because of its massive Buddha statue, which can be seen practically anywhere in Kandy. This monument, which stands more than 25 meters tall, is one of Sri Lanka’s tallest Buddha statues. A series of stairs behind the large white Buddha statue allows tourists to ascend further up and see the wonderful panorama of the temple’s environs. The vistas are more spectacular at night.
