Secret beach – Mirissa

Down south is always popular for its most picturesque beaches. The breeze will always remind you of the beach. Mirissa is a region in Southern province where is known for its famous coconut tree hill. Besides there is another place you must visit and spend your time – The secret beach. The location is geographically significant since it’s a beach with a bay right just around the main beach in Mirissa. But be aware that the last part to the beach is a very steep, rocky road with lots of holes in it. So you might want to walk the last part, or you must have really good motorbike skills. Though Mirissa is a place known by everyone, this place is still hidden and still doesn’t attract a crowd and this is the reason you need to visit the place. The calmness with the privacy, the sea breeze and the bluewish waves will surely make you overwhelmed.

There are three parts of the beach.

  1. The blue lagoon – a shallow lagoon which is a part of the main beach. A best part for kids to swim as its shallow and crystal clear blue water.
  2. Palm cove- corner around the blue lagoon is the palm cove where the jungle meets the sea. Enjoy the shady feature here and forget not the click the perfect photos.
  3. Shelly beach – If you want to explore another beach then follow the rocks along the right side from Blue Lagoon and keep going until you see Shelly beach. Here you can swim in the beautiful crystal clear water and also see the blowhole.

The best feature and the attraction here is the surrounding. Bay shaped shore is covered by the palm coconut trees and ever green lushes. The jungle beside meets the sea shore here. The elegant waves create the perfect place for swimming and snorkeling. The southern waters makes the residence for Sri Lankan types of turtles; so keep your eye on them once you are snorkeling by.

The most suitable timing to watch the beach is the morning or at the evening. The noon will always be so sunny and hot; do not get burns from the sun. Evening will be really coluorful with the picturesque sunset. There is also a local bar, the Secret Beach Bar which is located under the trees and is the perfect place to have lunch, a drink and relax in the shade.
