Walking track from Hanthana to Nuwara Eliya

To encourage the travel and tourism sector which is currently a must, a walking track is being constructed from Hanthana to Nuwara Eliya. This project connects to districts going through small villages and towns, tea estates,forest regions in Kotagala and some regions in Hatton. This is going to be a massive work in Sri Lanka as the ultimate objective is to develop tourism.

It is estimated that it would take 22 days to complete the walk from Hanthana to Nuwara Eliya. The secretary of tourism ministry states that the project is funded by ADB and it is said to be completed by April 2023.

This project is all about the improvement of the collapsed industry and to improve the livelihood of the villagers who live in the areas where the walking track will be constructed. There are two groups of communities take the advantage of this walking path. The travellers worldwide got the chance to experience the trek on this walking track and on the other hand the local community who have the chance to develop their businesses to the tourist arrivals.

The walking trail is passing through Tea Estates so that the managers are encouraged to serve some hot tea with snacks and even the villagers can develop they are small businesses. For every few kilometres there will be food stalls for refreshments and other purposes and this would directly help the economy of locals.
